In order to use the Voxbone Assistant, a working installation of Asterisk on MacOS X is required. Any extensions to be rung need to be created prior to configuring a Voxbone DID number. The Asterisk server needs to be addressable by a global IP address for Voxbone's service to work. In the event that the Asterisk server is behind NAT, the Voxbone Assistant will automatically adjust the configuration, but the NAT router's settings may also need to be adjusted and the service may or may not work. This is due to the nature of the SIP protocol which was not designed to work with NAT. In the event of NAT traversal problems it is recommended to hire a consultant to apply the necessary workarounds. The assistant will work on MacOS X versions 10.3 ("Panther") and 10.4 ("Tiger").
The development of this assistant was sponsored by Voxbone.
All software developed at Sunrise Telephone Systems Ltd is developed using VDM methodology informally. That is to say all software components are defined in terms of pre-conditions, post-conditions and error-conditions before the code is being finalised. Whilst we do not use VDM-SL to define formal semantics, we follow VDM principles and define semantics in plain English instead. Throughout the coding process, all code is verified against pre-, post-, error-conditions and the associated semantics on an ongoing basis.
